We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Ruby McNeil Stepney, 89, of 1304 Brookhollow Drive, Sanford.
The family will be receiving visitors at the home daily, with the exception of Friday, March 6, 2026 to prepare for funeral arrangements.
Mrs. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory five children: Dennis (Lisa) McNeil of Princeton, NJ; Denise Stroud of Sanford, NC; Wayne (Terrolyn) Bender of Columbus, GA; Malisha Stepney of the home; and Van (Curtette) Stepney of Sanford, NC. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Sean Mealy of Charlotte, NC; Tia (Michael Herndon) McNeil of Spring Lake, NC; Jamel (Kenia) Banks of Sanford, NC; Forrest Tucker of Cameron, NC; Dr. Derrill (Paula) Blue of Charlotte, NC; Jamaal (Nicole) Stepney of Arlington, VA; Trinity Whitfield of Durham, NC; Jermaine (Marilyn) Banks of Sanford, NC; Jordan (Kadijah) Banks of Wake Forest, NC; Jalen Stepney and Jasmine Stepney of Sanford, NC; Malcolm (Alana) McNeil of Portland, OR; Amonique Stroud, Taylor Stepney, Jeremiah Echols, and Van Stepney Jr., all of Sanford, NC. Ruby was also blessed with 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as one devoted goddaughter, Chenese Forbes of Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who loved her dearly.
Public viewing will be held at White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, Lillington, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 12;00 PM – 12:55 PM.
Celebration of Life will follow @ 1:00 PM, following the guidelines of the facility for entrance and capacity.
Interment will follow in the White Oak Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Lillington.
